Okay, I could not miss the chance to post a crazy picture from my visit to the Iowa State Fair in August. I remember sketching pumpkins in art school but this honey is just a wee bit bigger. I don’t think I have a sketch pad big enough to draw this baby!  Now for what you can cheer from your chair and what you can see that is out and about.

My work titled “Corn Rows” was awarded 3rd Place in the 2018 Agriculture Art Exhibition in the State Historical Museum of Iowa. WooHoo! This means a check is coming my way soon.  The exhibition is on the 3rd Floor in Café Barattas through October 30th.  The museum is at 600 East Locust, Des Moines. The café is open Monday – Saturday from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. For more information, please go to www.iowaculture.gov. You can park on the street using meters or park for free in the garage Capitol Complex Parking that you can access from Grand or Des Moines Ave. You can enter the museum from Grand also.

I am a Local Semi-Finalist with two quilts in the 2018 AQS QuiltWeek® Contest in the Fall Paducah, Kentucky Show, September 12 – 15, 2018. Both IRIS AND MARIGOLD TALK OUTLOUD and IRIS AND MARIGOLD-HUSHED VOICES along with 300 others will be on display in this 2nd Annual contest.

I heard recently that I will have a piece in the Fall On-line Artsy Exhibition organized by the International Sculpture Center.  Exact dates are coming soon.

Concordia Seminary (St. Louis, MO) invited me to exhibit my wall sculpture, “Broken Yet Connected”, in the show “The Cross is Our Theology” . The venue is their library gallery and will hang from next week through the middle of October. This show is in conjunction with their Theological Symposium celebrating the 500th Anniversary of the Heidelberg Disputation.

I will have two works on display in the Des Moines Area Quilt Guild show in the group exhibit of CITA (Central Iowa Textile Artists) under the theme titled “Illumination”.  One is called “Zapped” and the other is called “Crack in The Wall”. The show will be September 27-29 in the 4-H Building at the Iowa State Fair Grounds.  Quilt show hours will be Thursday and Friday: 9 AM – 6 PM and Saturday: 9 AM – 5 PM.

Mid-November I will open my garage for my Annual Art Sale which will be your chance to purchase some great art and know that you are helping to fund the NEXT great art out of Cornstalk Studio!” Save the dates – November 16-17, 2018.
